How I discovered my spiritual gift

I have always known that I had a spiritual gift but I did not take it seriously until I dreamt of my late grandmother’s death a couple of months before she passed.

Life had a new meaning to me after that. I was in utter amazement at the miracle of life on earth, as if I had just been born into this world. For the next 3 months, I lived in a state of uninterrupted deep peace and bliss. After that, it diminished somewhat in intensity, or perhaps it just seemed to because it became my natural state.

I could still function in the world, although I realized that nothing I ever did could possibly add anything to what I already had. I knew, of course, that something profoundly significant had happened to me, but I didn’t understand it at all.

It was very difficult to confide in anyone in my family so I kept to myself. My ancestors visit me in my dreams and we communicate so clearly you would swear that they are physically present with me.

I felt an immediate need to consult with a medium since these vivid dreams would occur frequently but I didn't. There was a time I had a dream and literally an hour later of me waking up- it happened exactly as it did in my dream.

To my own understanding; these dreams that often become a reality happen when I abstain from sex, alcohol and meat indulgence. Haha but I love my dry red and indulging in meat sometimes so it becomes really difficult to recall my dreams when I am not fully aligned.

The path is quite challenging but it is worth it. I believe everyone is born with a spiritual gift because as children we would have imaginary friends and see things adults wouldn't. We were so pure ( free from worldly attachments) therefore making it easy for us to access other spiritual dimensions.

Below are the steps to guide you to be fully spiritually awakened:

  1. Detach yourself from earthly things

Learn to become fully present in the moment/ in the NOW. Be appreciative of everything you have, be thankful for your life, ability to breathe, and good health. This is a state in which you overcome your attachment to desire for things, people or concepts of the world and thus attain a heightened perspective.

2. Seek a meaningful connection with something bigger than yourself

Wake up every morning with a content heart. Make it a habit to breathe, express gratitude and set the tone for the day. Meditate, switch off your mind. This can result in positive emotions, such as peace, awe, contentment, gratitude, and acceptance.

3. Journal your dreams

A lot of people I have come across like saying “dreams are just dreams, do not pay much attention to them.” Well, let me tell you, dreams are a form of communication. When you sleep, you often establish contact with teachers and spirits of other realms that is why it’s so important to keep a dream journal and always note your dreams.

4. Make nature your friend

Trees, soil, and the water. Touch them, communicate with them, appreciate them. Be in awe of the sun, the moon and the stars. These things are breathtakingly beautiful! Pay attention to how fulfilled and content you feel after touching and talking to them.

5. Be present

…for it is here- in the Now -where we find our True Self, which lies behind our physical body, shifting emotions, and chattering mind.

Blanketed by an azure sky, the orange-yellow rays of the setting sun can, at special times, gift us with a moment of such considerable beauty, we find ourselves momentarily stunned, with frozen gaze. The splendor of the moment so dazzles us, our compulsively chattering minds give pause, so as not to mentally whisk us away to a place other than the here-and-now. Bathed in luminescence, a door seems to open to another reality, always present, yet rarely witnessed.
